Tetra produces hand sanitizer

Company

Self-produced hand sanitizer, protective face masks and gloves: Tetra does its best to protect the health of its employees. The self-produced hand sanitizer is now being distributed to facilities across Europe along with protective masks and gloves.

Tetra adapts production to produce sanitizer

Within a short time, the production lines for the Tetra water care products in Melle, Germany were adapted so that sanitizer could be mass-produced and filled into bottles and canisters. The canisters and bottles are then packed together with 10,000 protective face masks and gloves and distributed to Tetra's locations throughout Europe.

"The in-house production of hand sanitizer in combination with distribution protective face masks and gloves were the next logical steps for us to best protect the health of our employees."

Thomas SackschewskyDirector Manufacturing Melle

The amount of produced sanitizer is enough for around 100,000 applications and to support all European facilities for a period of 4 weeks. Tetra is ideally positioned to carry out further production runs as soon as more sanitizer is required.

Tetra’s proactive approach

The in-house production of sanitizer and the distribution of protective face masks and gloves are just a small part of the precautionary measures that Tetra has taken. Tetra immediately took a proactive approach and introduced travel restrictions and home office work early on. Special protection conditions apply to all employees who cannot work from home. This includes, for example, maintaining the safety distance of 1.5 to 2 meters, very thorough cleaning of used surfaces and working in strictly separated shifts. These proactive measures have resulted in Tetra not having a single confirmed corona case.

"We do everything to ensure that our employees and the people around us stay healthy. While this is currently our highest priority, we pride ourselves on still producing high quality products to supply our customers worldwide.”

About Tetra

Tetra is the global leader in aquatics and one of the largest manufacturers of garden pond products. Tetra was founded in 1951 by Dr. rer. nat. Ulrich Baensch, a young scientist with an enormous passion and fascination for ornamental fishkeeping. In 1955 he and his team invented the world-famous flake food TetraMin – from now on the best-selling fish food in the world. In the decades that followed Tetra developed many more products for aquariums, pond and terrariums. Many of them were the first of their kind all over the world and they joined the immense success of TetraMin. Dr. Baensch´s revolutionary and inventive passion is anchored firmly in the DNA of Tetra, right up to the present day. Our success has been driven by our unique research and development department, but also on building a trusting relationship with our customers. Our principle to always provide personal, expert advice and personal assistance to create unique and fascinating experiences every day remains one of our most important keys to success.
