Tetra Pond MediFin is a concentrate for the preparation of a solution for the treatment of ornamental fish and is versatile in use. This veterinary medicinal product has an antiseptic effect when used against parasitic infestations, fungal infections, gill parasites and bacteria. Possible symptoms include whitish to yellowish, slimy or cotton-like coatings, ulcers, wounds, inflammation, blood spots, loss of skin and scales, cloudy eyes, fin rot, clouding of the mucous membranes, white mouths, loss of equilibrium and rubbing or scratching behaviour. Tetra Pond MediFin can be recognised by the dark green to blue colour of the liquid concentrate. For information on risks and side effects, please refer to the package leaflet and consult your veterinarian or specialist pet retailer. Please observe the following safety instructions: Intolerances may occur in cartilaginous fish (Chondrichthyes) and invertebrates. Snails, mussels and shrimp, as well as the affected fish species, should therefore be excluded from treatment. Do not use the product in the following cases: in the event of hypersensitivity to one or more of the active substances (see package leaflet); if the oxygen concentration in the garden pond is below 5 mg/l; if the gills of your ornamental fish already show clearly visible damage; if the animals are intended for food production. Tetra Pond MediFin must not be administered by pregnant women. When using Tetra Pond MediFin, avoid contact with skin, mucous membranes and eyes, as well as oral ingestion. Gloves should be worn when handling the product. Wash your hands with soap and water after use. If the product accidentally gets into the eyes, rinse them immediately and thoroughly with clean, running water. In the event of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or label. Always ensure good ventilation in rooms where the ingredient formaldehyde is being used. This veterinary medicinal product has a strong colouring effect. Therefore, avoid contact with clothing. Heavily contaminated clothing should be changed immediately and washed before being worn again. Tetra Pond MediFin must not be used in natural bodies of water. To minimise harmful effects of the ingredient malachite green oxalate on the environment, the pond water should be filtered with activated carbon after treatment and before a water change. It is prohibited to use Tetra Pond MediFin on animals other than the following pets: animals kept in aquariums or ponds that are not intended for food production. If you notice any side effects in your ornamental fish, inform your veterinarian. Please also note: The safety of this veterinary medicinal product during the pregnancy of ornamental fish has not been established. Its use is therefore not recommended throughout the entire gestation period. Important: Tetra Pond MediFin must not be used together with other medicines. It works best when used alone. The simultaneous use of water treatment products may impair the effectiveness of the veterinary medicinal product. For optimum results, please follow the instructions in the package leaflet: Shake the bottle well before use and add 50 ml of Tetra Pond MediFin per 1,000 L of garden pond water. Distribute the product evenly in the water, for example using a stick. The treatment lasts 4 to 7 days and begins with a single application on the first day. Over time, you will be able to observe the effect of the product. When treating Ichthyophthirius (white spot disease), repeat the application five days after the first dose. After completing the treatment, filter the water with activated carbon and ensure that your filter is not heavily soiled. As most diseases are caused by poor water quality, Tetra recommends checking the water parameters regularly, for example with the Tetra Pond Test 7in1. Your specialist pet retailer will be happy to advise you. In the event of an overdose, Tetra recommends changing 50% of the water and additionally filtering with activated carbon. During treatment, the filter should be operated in a separate container outside the garden pond in order to preserve the microorganisms it contains. Additional aeration of the pond, for example with the Tetra Pond APK 400, is also recommended. If aeration without an active filter is not possible, the device can be operated without filter material to ensure sufficient water movement. In this case, the filter material can be stored cool in a container with pond water. Avoid the use of UV clarifiers or activated carbon for water filtration during treatment with Tetra Pond MediFin. Tetra Pond MediFin should be stored protected from heat and direct sunlight. The storage temperature should be between 15 °C and 25 °C. Once opened, the product has a shelf life of six months and must not be used thereafter. Always keep Tetra Pond MediFin out of the reach of children. Disposal notice: Unused veterinary medicinal products must be disposed of at a hazardous waste collection point and must not be disposed of via wastewater or the sewage system.
