Optimum algae control: algae in an aquarium are not only unsightly, they can also inhibit the growth of water plants and upset the biological balance in the aquarium on a long-term basis. Tetra Algetten* prevent the growth of all algae species in small aquariums with a capacity of up to 40 litres. The long-lasting, high-dose active ingredient is released slowly and remains in the water for around 4 weeks. At the same time, Tetra Algetten are gentle for all aquarium inhabitants, plants and microorganisms if used as indicated. The high-dose ingredient actively attacks the algae’s metabolism and effectively prevents algae growth. The product does not discolour the aquarium water. Tetra Algetten are suitable for all freshwater aquariums. When using this product, the aquarium needs to be aerated, for example using a Tetra APS aquarium air pump, to ensure a sufficient oxygen supply. Dead algae should preferably be removed mechanically, with a net, so that they do not have a negative impact on the water quality. After treatment, to prevent new algae growth in the long term, the algae nutrients phosphate and nitrate should be reduced, e.g. with Tetra EasyBalance. To tackle acute cases of algae, special anti-algae agents which release their active ingredient quickly can also be used, such as Tetra AlguMin* or Tetra Algizit*.
